If you met a celeb who's work you admired, and they were a right **, would it put you off them?

I've met quite a few musicians I'm a fan of, and they've been alright.

Was just reading about a bird that encountered RINGO STARR and apparently he was a proper miserable, rude CUNT.

She said it put her off listening to The Beatles.

It's a bit silly, that, but I sort of get it.

Sir Geoff Hurst's daughter had a long illness and died, not sure exactly when but I would think it was about 10 or 12 years ago. I reckon that's a good enough excuse for being a bit miserable now and then.

Haven't met too many famous people over the years but never had any problems.

An Evening with McAvennie and Dicks, both great and Galey and Ken Brown (an absolute gent) were brilliant. Met Frank several times playing in his tournaments and was always a laugh.

Sir Trev - A true gent.

Ultravox - All good guys although Billy Currie was a tad odd!! Midge is a lovely guy.

Christopher Biggins - Nice fella.

i met PDC and it was everything i hoped it would be!!

my cousin was getting married in the Solent hotel down near Southampton. PDC was then manager of Sunderland and his team were staying at the hotel the night before the game.
post wedding disco i was heading to my room when there was a bit of aggro in reception, i wandered over and some lad told me he'd had his phone nicked and could i help him.......... next thing PDC walks by and the lad says 'thats him'. anyway, lots of pushing and shouting in reception, i made sure i got right in the middle and helped usher PDC from the crowd, told him who i supported and we had a chat while the police were called. we gave statements saying we hadnt seen him nick anyones phones and everyone went off to bed.

they got beat the next day and he got asked about it in the press conference. Monday morning the kid was on the front page of the Sun saying PDC had roughed him up and nicked his phone for taking pics of the team.

hilarious at the time, him shouting 'go to bed you are drunk' to all these pissed up locals wanting to fight him.

Met Jimmy Greaves - smashing fella.

Met Paolo at a book signing the day after we went out the League Cup to Sheffield Wednesday(around 2001). He was polite, but very down - in his words - "because of last night"

Met Martin Peters couple of times - was a cunt both times.

One of the sites I ran had several famous residents who I had to deal with on a regular basis.

Pete Townshend pre scandal - good fun, friendly loads of visitors to his "pad"

Grif Rhys Jones - bit up himself but polite, very serious.
David Suchet - absolute gem, lovely bloke, wife also very nice. Always made us tea and invited us in.
David Mellor - very special man, He manages to be even more of a cunt in real life than you hear on radio or see on tv.

I did not expect him to be cracking funnies but he just looked weird. He actually looked drunk even though it was around 1pm. Maybe he has a problem with booze.

Always thought Ian Hislop was a smug little shit, but when l met him and had a long chat l found him to be a really top fella and nice guy.
Augus Deayton on the other hand was a prize prick and we clashed, arrogant rude cunt.

I don't admire him but I once staged an event at which Neil Morrissey was a guest. He turned out to be one of the biggest cunts I've ever met.

Old man used to deal a lot with Sir Geoff and Peters when they had their commerical car Insurance business... said Geoff was always nice as pie and it was Martin who was the obnoxious spikey one...

I think Sir Geoff was suffering from a prolonged bout of depression after his post football-player career and business interests fell apart. He was certainly an obnoxious, miserable cunt for decades. I think he may be feeling a little better in recent years. He is certainly more generous than he was in his opinions of former colleagues and even manages the odd smile.

Here's one for the oldies. In 1965 when I was 7 years old I ended up on Blue Peter - I won't bore you with the story of how that came about. Anyway, Valerie Singleton was very nice but the other presenter at that time, Christopher Trace, was a miserable git - wouldn't have anything to do with me. The old ventriloquist, Ray Allan, happened to be on the same episode and was the complete gentleman - took a real interest and couldn't have been nicer.

Moving on a few years, tanman's post below reminds me that when I was about 20 and working in a West End department store I once saw Kenneth Williams walking through. He looked like the most miserable git you could imagine, looking down his nose at everything and everyone. Totally different to his on-screen persona, but I think he was well-known for it.

I walked past Graham Norton yesterday outside his house with his dogs (3 of them) in Wapping, what a miserable git he looks outside a TV studio.
